Fred the Goat roamed the hill behind Vevay for about 13 years. Early in his life he was a beloved 4H goat. However, he didn't like being penned up, so one day he ran off, never to return. He found friendship with local horses, as well as with wild deer, who accepted him as part of their herd. Happy with a life of freedom, Fred stayed in his chosen territory with no fence to contain him. He always found a little stream to get a drink from and enjoyed the porch of an old abandoned house.
Visit Vevay Indiana and find Fred's memorial statue on Vevay Hill.
