Fred was a white billy goat that was born in the Spring of 2000. He was an independent little fellow and never liked to be confined. One day, Fred went home with a little girl to be her 4-H project. He immediately got into trouble by jumping the fence and visiting the neighbors. He tromped around in the shrubbery and enjoyed tasty garden treats.
As you can imagine, he wasn’t welcome on his visits, and he was constantly escaping!
Fred moved and lived in the area of what the locals called “Vevay Hill” (State Road 56). People would drive up Vevay Hill and marvel at the white goat grazing the hillside any time of the day or night. He became a famous part of Vevay History and called “Fred the Goat”. Fred lived all over that area until the fall of 2013. It was at this time he was found in the old house he would use for shelter. He looked like he was resting but Fred has passed away. While traveling “Vevay Hill” look for the concrete statue that was purchased and placed there in Fred’s honor. Also statues from our residents and businesses with them decorated!
