The Historic Patriot Museum is located in the Town Hall, which has an observation deck overlooking the river. Find a fascinating collection of historic memorabilia and pictures, including several of the 1937 flood. Patriot was laid out in 1820 by Elisha Wade and James Herrick. It was originally named Troy, but this name was later changed to Patriot. Located near the museum is the plaque of Elwood Mead, engineer and Director of Reclamation responsible for building Hoover Dam on the Colorado River. Lake Mead was named after the Patriot, Indiana native.
