The Festival of Lights Celebration takes place during the month of December. It is started off on the First Friday, where Santa Claus himself lights up the square and there’s lots of celebrating and hot cocoa! Behind the scenes of this cheerful event is a group of great folks this community couldn’t do without – and they need your help.
Have you been thinking about ways you can participate in the community? If you ever wanted to be a part of something that brings joy to hundreds of people, then please consider helping with the Festival of Lights committee in Vevay! The lights display down at Ogle Riverfront Park is set up mostly by local volunteers, who have donated their time and effort into making this a beautiful and cheerful event for all members of our community.
The lights committee will begin meeting every second Wednesday of the month at 9 a.m. at the Vevay Switzerland County Foundation Barn located on Highway 56 near Truth Apostolic Church. Anyone of any age willing to help work with the lights are welcomed to help out. It’s not all work – this is a great opportunity to connect with other local people who have the same interest in bettering the community as you do!
Many hands make light work, so for more information or if you are interested in participating with this great group of people, please contact Tom Dawson at 317-372-5586, Larry Tolbert at 812-571-3957, or the Switzerland County Visitors Center at 812-427-3237. We thank you for your help!
